What is ADA?
The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990 requies that all new fixed route buses be accessible to passengers in wheelchairs. Paratransit (door to door) service must be provided to individuals whose disabilities prevent them from using regular route service.

ADA Paratransit Service
Lake Transit provides paratransit within one mile of bus routes with its Dial-A-Ride and Flex Stop services. ADA eligible individuals receive discount fares and special service features. These include:

Hours: With reservations made at least one day in advance, Dial-A-Ride hours will be extended, if needed, to match the bus route schedule for and equivalent trip.

Reservations: When requested at least one day in advance, Lake Transit will give a flex stop or Dial-A-Ride reservation for the time requested (within a plus or minus 15 minute window) to the extent possible. Reservation times may be negotiated wihtin a maximum of one hour before or after the requested time.
Eligibility and Applications
Most individuals who cannot board, ride or get off a regular public bus because of a disability are eligible for ADA Paratransit Service. If you believe that you may be eligible, ask your bus driver for an application, call 263-3334 or 994-3334 or download an application from our website: www.laketransit.org. If you have a hearing disability please contact us through California Relay Service at 1-800-735-2929.
