As you know, countries around the world and the U.S. are facing an outbreak of a respiratory illness caused by a novel coronavirus called COVID-19.
The health and wellbeing of our riders and staff is our top priority. The following interim guidance may help prevent exposures to acute respiratory illnesses, including COVID-19.
What you can do to prevent illness:
You can help reduce the risk of getting and spreading viral respiratory infections, including COVID-19, by taking these simple steps:
- Wash hands often with soap and warm water for at least 20 seconds.
- Avoid touching eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands.
- Avoid contact with people who are sick.
- Stay home while sick and avoid close contract with others.
- Cover mouth and nose with a tissue when coughing or sneezing, then throw the tissue in the trash and wash hands.
- If you don’t have a tissue, cough or sneeze into your upper sleeve, not your hands.
- Clean and disinfect objects and surfaces.
- Follow
the CDC’s recommendations for using a facemask.
- CDC does not recommend that people who are well wear a facemask to protect themselves from respiratory diseases, including COVID-19.
- Facemasks should be used by people who show symptoms of COVID-19 to help prevent the spread of the disease to others.
Lake Transit Authority has increased their cleaning protocol using EPA approved products for fighting COVID-19 and is focusing on hi-touch points such as rails, exit buttons, seats/seat backs, and the fare box. Additionally, hand sanitizer, gloves, and surgical masks will be available on all buses for public use.
