Lake Transit Requests Proposals for Operations & Maintenance

Lake Transit Authority General Manager, Mark Wall, announced today the release of a Request for Proposals (RFP) for the contract to provide operating and maintenance services for the Lake Transit system. The operations contractor manages the day-to-day operations of the transit system, including the employment of drivers, dispatchers, mechanics, and other personnel needed to keep the buses running. Mr. Wall expects the current contractor, Paratransit Services to make a bid to retain the contract, but thinks there is also opportunity for competition from other companies. Competition helps to keep the cost of service and the fares that passengers pay as low as possible. Regardless of who wins the contract, it is expected that most current employees will be retained. The RFP is posted and available for review in the Plans, Policies, and Procurement section of this website. Click on the link in the right hand column of the home page to open that section.
